Body Mass Index Calculators will help you get fit and stay healthy!

What is BMI?

Body mass index (BMI) is one of many factors that you and your health care provider can use to assess your health. It is a quick screening tool for assessing health risk based on your height and weight.

Depending on your BMI number, you will be classified:

  • Underweight (BMI less than 18.5)
  • Healthy weight (BMIs 18.5 to 24.9)
  • Overweight (BMIs 25 to 29.9)
  • Obese (BMI 30 and over)

BMI Calculator:

How To Calculate Your Body Mass Index (Formula)

BMI = Weight (lb) / (Height (in) x Height (in)) x 703

For example a 150 lb adult measuring 72" (6 feet) would have a BMI of 20.34.

Step 1: 150 divided by 5184 (72 x 72) = 0.28935185
Step 2: 0.28935185 times 703 equals 20.34.

This adult (male or female) would fall into the healthy weight category as indicated in the above ranges.
